I need to start testing a Plus app in Vista. Not sure which version (I think there are 4) to recommend to clients, and to start using myself for testing. E.G., XP Pro was a better OS than XP Home although this app works fine in both.

Do I need to go to the most expensive Vista version, or can I test and recommend other less expensive versions for the app?

Any and all ideas appreciated,
Mark

I've tested my apps with Vista Ultimate and the Home basic I think it's
called. Both cases works fine as long as your application has an
attached manifest file. I've even deployed over networks with the home
version (similar to XP home's issues). As long as it's peer to peer and
not on a domain the basic should be fine

Thanks Chris. Sounds like I can safely use the less expensive Home versions.

If you want to really *work* with Vista, I'd recommend to go for
Business.
There are quite some important things missing in Home, f.e.
network-things, backup etc.

IMO the difference is worth the difference in price.
