I use Help & Manual. You create your documentation and then produce any
file type you want including html and pdf. So when MS comes up with a
new format, you don't have to start over. It's great and I highly
recommend it.

If you were going to implement a help system for your application at this point in time, what type of help system would you create ? I do not want to re-do the system in the future because of a Microsoft change in philosophy. With ease of implementation and longevity in mind, what are your recommendations ? I am sure that this subject will be of interest to many users.
Thanks for all of your ideas in advance

I use Helpscribble (at Helpscribble.com). Have for many years. It is regularly updated, and very easy to set up.

Once the help file is created, is it as simple as setting up the Helpfile and Helpid properities of dBase ?

There is a knowledgebase article on setting up help. I think it is called Help on Help. It lays everything out, and is very easy to follow. Check the dbase web site.

You can have general help, or context sensitive help. You can set up help to be specific to a single form control (e.g., an entry field), or specific to a particular form or page on a form. Yes, it is pretty much just a matter of using the helpid property.

Helpscribble gives you lots of options. Recommend you check their web site.

Mark, I have checked their website and the product looks great and is reasonably priced. I think this will be an excellent choice.

Thanks,

Second Vote for "Help & Manual". I like it because besides creating Help
files, I can also create output in PDF and other formats.

Definitely worth the money!
