but new security measures are soon to be enforced that mean the computer is locked down with no admin privileges for the user.
Extraordinarily reasonable!
Congratulations to the IT-staff for having achieved this.

The location of some, thoug not all, temp-files can be controlled by
setting the "net-dir" property in the BDE. This is in the
drivers/native/Paradox section, but affects also DBFs.

Most likely you will encounter further problems.
If your users need to access the BDE, for example to do any changes with
Aliases or such, this won't work because BDE-Administrator needs Admin
privileges as well.

Consider also, what you are writing into the (application).ini file,
because that also usually needs writing/admin privileges.

Where does dBASE runtime write it's temporary files to? Is there any way to programmatically change this location? I have a DEO program that has been working fine for several years, but new security measures are soon to be
enforced that mean the computer is locked down with no admin privileges for the user. When I tried to install my program on one of these, it refused to allow the temporary SQL files to be created in C:Program Files/etc. where the
program is installed. I guess I need to write to the Windows Temp folder or some other "open" folder.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Charlie
Charlie,

There has been some long discussions about this in the past month or so.
I think it was Andrew, Rich, and a few others who were discussing it. I
think that they resolved that issue and others. Check out the last few
threads in the dbase.cto-wants-to-know news group.
