I am in big trouble. A couple of days ago an email came into my mailbox that
screwed up my OE and simultaneously the dBASE PLUS DBE engine. I have
managed to straighten the OE up but the dBASE is still malfunctioning.

I uninstalled dBASE PLUS twice so far to no avail.

This is what happens.

When I click on any icon of a particular project on my desktop or even if I
go directly to the .prj file name and click on them I do not see anything
appearing on the screen except for a small flicker of a dbase shell and then
it disappears. Also the operating system Win2K instantly slows down
significantly. If I invoke a task manager at this moment I can see PLUS.EXE
running in the background and I have to kill it by terminating the process.
Only after that the OS gets unfrozen and I can try to do other things.

What is going on? Please help.

P.S. The thing I want to say is somewhat related to it but not directly. I
have noticed on numerous occasions that certain stresses on the OS which I
frequently overcome and forget lead to changing some parameters in the DBE.
It is weird. Background and foreground colors of pushbuttons and other
objects change without notice. The changes have no sense whatsoever in terms
of the contrast and convenience for reading. It is totally crazy. I am
constantly on a lookout for new troubles. It looks like the BDE attracts
errant magnetic fields from everywhere.

I am in big trouble.
After all I've fixed the problem myself without clear idea of what it was.
